The DLK was designed as a pure workhorse. I wanted to provide
a knife primarily for the great men and women of our armed
forces serving overseas in the sandbox. As soon as I made
the prototypes and showed them to folks who might want to
send them to the troops, however, I started getting requests
for them for civilans also.
This knife is actually based upon the first knife I ever made
which was also a chisel ground tanto. I extended it just a
hair and improved the spine serrations - its like your thumb
is immediately glued to the spine. With or without gloves
this grip is rock solid.
The stock paracord gives a good grip which is easily replaced
by the soldier in the field if it wears. This knife comes
with two kydex sheaths, a Mercharness and some 3M heavy duty
dualock tape. This allows the soldier to easily reposition
and move the knife from his person, to his gear, even to a
vehicle mount.
I cannot wait to start getting the stories back on where this
knife goes and what it does. Any one of them that goes into
a combat zone and comes back to me with a story will get replaced
free of charge. The more beat up and abused this knife gets
the better I like it.
It is available in D2, in a beadblasted finish. More refined
custom configurations such as handle slabs, bolsters, etc.
are also available. |
